It made me sleepy but not sleepy enough to fall asleep and stay asleep. I was surprised because it is a relatively high dose. I've had better results from products that had only 2 or 5 mg of melatonin. Not real impressed.

We recently found out that my wife has stage 4 inoperable lung cancer. It's NSCLC, adenocarcinoma. I knew that melatonin was a powerful antioxidant but most antioxidants also protect cancer cells. It seems to allow much higher doses of melatonin without creating unpleasant side effects, compared to the tablet form of melatonin, which appears to have more unrelated ingredients in it -- binders, etc. But that's just my guess as to why the difference, I've seen that mentioned in other areas online.

So I ordered them, and began taking 40mg's every night for about 3 weeks, and then like magic, my body fell into the rythm of falling asleep and staying asleep on my own. I keep them around for emergencies or when I travel.

Not all melatonin is created equal. This brand melatonin is very high quality. This is not an average melatonin you grab off of some grocery store shelf. Honestly, I can't understand why anyone would ever need a 20mg dosage. I have the 3mg capsules of Pure Encapsulations Melatonin, and I'll often open the capsule and just put half the powder under my tongue. Works faster that way. Unless you have a tolerance built up, a small dosage of this stuff should work fine.
