Supports Eye and Brain Health* Blue Light Protection*
Lutein and zeaxanthin are dietary carotenoids found most abundantly in dark, leafy green vegetables. These carotenoids concentrate in the macula (pl. maculae) of the eye.* The maculae are responsible for sharpness of vision. Lutein and zeaxanthin, including mesozeaxanthin, provide important protection against the oxidizing effects of sun and artificial blue light (e.g., computer, smartphone and LED).*
Lutein and zeaxanthin also concentrate in the brain where research indicates these carotenoids may play an important role in the neural development of infants and children.*

Great price compared to other venues such as Whole Foods. Good combo of ingredients.
Macular degeneration runs in my family and as I age, my vision is no longer as good as it used to be. On the advice of my doctor I have been taking Lutein in an effort to preserve my vision. The softgels capsules are a small enough size that they are easy to swallow. I have experienced no adverse side effects. Occasionally the fillers in supplements or capsules will cause me to experience stomach irritation or itching - no problem with this formula.
Having a family history of macula degeneration, I thought "eye vitamins" couldn't hurt. My opthamologist thought the Areds 2 formula I had been using, at my age and current condition, were just expensive vitamin pills. So, looking for a more affordable and targeted approach for Lutein and Zeaxanthin, I turned to Amazon. reviews of the varied supplements. I learned that deliveries during a summer heat wave can cause even expensive capsules to clump together. So, I was pleased to find the price per active targeted ingredient about 1/4 of what I had been buying, the expiration date had 13 months to go, and using Prime's "next morning" delivery, got them onto my shaded porch; NOT stuck together. Additionally, the sourcing of the active ingredients was via LuteMax 2020, a searchable quality step, the capsule was made from "cattle" (bovine) byproducts, no aftificial ingredients. Being a sceptic, I don't expect to be aware of any benefits. I hope my optic nerve remains viable and that, unlike, reviews of other products, there are no negative "cause and effects" from this new supplement.
I bought another one for energy also
On of the most important thing I like to find in a supplement is simplicity if ingredients and NO soy! This product does both.
