GlucoGen is used for people with hypoglycemic tendencies. Specifically, those that also have low cortisol, and thus have a difficult time maintaining stable blood sugar levels.
Carnitine, one of the ingredients, is necessary to bring fatty acids into the mitochondria for beta-oxidation ("fat burning" or, turning fatty acids into ATP), which is a critical step in stimulating gluconeogenesis, the process by which the liver makes new glucose to keep serum glucose levels stable during times of fasting.
GlucoGen also contains licorice root, which can help increase cortisol and therefore help maintain stable glucose levels in those that cannot due to low cortisol levels.
