I am writing this to warn potential buyers about the dangers of this product and dishonest company that produces it. I purchased this tea in a local health food store - it was recommended to me for management of difficult to control constipation. Shortly after taking the first dose as instructed, I first became very nauseous, then terribly bloated, then developed total body fatigue and was feeling like I am about to pass out. I called the company twice - first time I was assured that this is not possible, but second time - when I was very certain that it is this supplement that is causing such terrible reaction - I was connected to medical team. I presented to medical team representative pertinent concerning findings regarding several ingredients that the tea contained. My findings were from trusted sources like Memorial Sloan Kettering cancer center in NYC. I emphasized that because their product just like most of the supplements is not FDA approved or regulated, and because they fail to disclose quantities of each ingredient in the product, toxicity from consuming it is a real possibility! The medical team representative acknowledged all that I said and assured me that company will work on changing the label and will specify quantities of each herb in theirproprietary blend. I was also told that company will reimburse me given my experience. Several days later I called to provide my information to be reimbursed, and was told that they will discuss whether reimbursement is appropriate. I was shocked because all that I said during my conversation with medical team was validated and SHE offered reimbursement! Then I got an email stating that although they cannot reimburse me, as a gesture of good will they are offering me to get any product of the same value from their company! I responded that given such negative response to their product - which does not so much as mentions the quantities of the ingredients per dose, thus making it a very dangerous substance as most of its ingredients can be toxic at high doses - I have absolutely no trust in their company, and provided them with screen shots of possible side effects of some of the ingredients that their product contains, specifically - sheep sorrel can cause liver and kidney damage due to high oxalate content; - red clover in certain concentrations can stimulate production of estrogen positive breast cancer cells as well as there was evidence of brain bleed with it; - blessed thistle is contraindicated to use when someone has stomach or intestinal irritation and may further exacerbate those; - kelp can INDUCE hyper or hypo thyroidism- abnormal thyroid function was reported directly due to high kelp concentrations. Furthermore, kelp may contain harmful metals ( cadmium, lead, aluminum and other heavy metals). I provided this information to the company, but they dismissed it. And so, as a health care provider myself, Driven by science and research, I have written this to educate the consumers about this dangerous supplement so that people dont go through the experience that I was subjected to after taking only one dose of this tea. I cannot imagine what would happen if I were to follow the instructions and took two doses! Perhaps a visit to ER??
