Somethings Fishy about the New Formula, or rather, NOT Fishy

Do you like to pay a lot of money for sunflower oil? If so, then this new formulation of salmon oil is for you. I have been buying Dr. Mercola salmon oil capsules for years. I liked that the product contained naturally occurring vitamins A and D, and had few additives. The old formula contained salmon oil, tilapia fish capsule, and rosemary extract. Recently, they changed their label, and I noticed that they added sunflower oil. I need to avoid sunflower oil if possible, but I figured there wasnt very much in each capsule, and this is the only salmon oil Ive found without added vitamins and other unwanted ingredients. I thought Id see if they still contain the same amounts of vitamins A and D, so I compared the labels. BIG DIFFERENCE. You will see in the photos a comparison of the old formula at left, and the new at right. See the listings for vitamin A? Old formula 480mcg, new formula13mcg. Yes, thirteen. See the listing for vitamin D? Yes, thats right, theres only one listing, on the old label. The old one had 11.5mcg. The new formula doesnt have ANY vitamin D. The levels of EPA and DHA are lower too: 230mg and 230mg for the old formula, and 210mg and 180mg for the new formula. The old capsules are a darker amber color compared to the new ones as well. The new ones look more like, well, sunflower oil. Therefore, we can conclude that what we are now paying for, and rather handsomely at that, is a sunflower oil and salmon oil blend, with virtually no vitamins and less EPA and DHA. I called Dr. Mercola and discussed this with them, and I am happy to say they were very considerate and helpful, and refunded my money for the order of the new product, and let me keep the bottles I ordered. Still, it is not the old formula. They said they would discuss the formula change with their product team, and pass along my displeasure at the new formula, and get back to me. So, five stars for customer service but one star for the new formula. I may update later if they get back to me. One last note- as of this writing, the label information and photos of the product on Amazon are the OLD formula. You can refer to my photos to see what the old and new look like. As for me, Im off to do some fishing for a new salmon oil supplement. (Review written by a family member of the officially listed Amazon customer.)

Misrepresented

The capsules are 1000mg not 3000mg as posted. The recommended daily intake is three capsules so the 90 capsules are a month's supply. There is no info about the gelatin capsules themselves and the fish oil is listed as from salmon AND tilapia.
