My cats don't seem to taste or mind this powder at all. This is part of the regimine for my cat with kidney failure. He only has limited function of one kidney, but you would never know he's sick the way he runs and plays. The vets gave him 6 months to live about 2 years ago now and his quality of life is extremely good. This has been an easy and beneficial part of the program, but I can't speak to it alone.

I apparently started buying this stiff after the product changed from a fine powder to granules. Im not sure what it was like before this change, but Im thrilled with the Phos-bind Ive been getting. Its a fine granule size, smaller than both salt or sugar. Ive never tried to dissolve it in water, so I cant speak to that. Its flavorless, and my dog isnt real picky so I dont need to do much else other than dumping the scoops in between the cups of food. I dont even bother mixing it in, it gets eaten. Since my dog was diagnosed in July, her phosphorus level has gone from 10.9 mg/dL to a level of 3.6 mg/dL, which is comfortably within normal limits. This stuff is now on auto-ship and my dog is doing great!

I had written a previous review with 3 stars because I said I couldn't get my little dog with kidney disease to eat the food with this in it. Wrong. It's not this which, indeed, has no taste, its the food the "kidney diet" which has so little protein in it that it has no taste to a dog expecially one with diminished appetite. When I added some hamburger to his "kidney diet" he scarfed it. So I think this is probably an essential part of his treatment.
